Democracy dies in Darkness

DEMOCRACY is said to be the government of the people by the people and for the people. It is the most accepted people centered initiative that forestall hope, harmony, economic advancement and prosperity. This hope dies in the face of wanton lack, unemployment/dependency, electoral violence/malpractice, inequality and corruption which sum up attendant darkness inimical to our democratization. Democracy also dies in stifled environments that does not encourage democratic initiatives to thrive.

To save DEMOCRACY, first we must be cultured to have peaceful, free, fair and credible election process that transitions one administration to another. Then, we can say we are global citizens in our own right parallel with the global community on the path towards sustainable development.

EDUCATION is key for our people's development. Only through education we can raise people who can identify the barrage of problems and challenges around us, closing the long gap of unenlightened persons we have around us becomes key.

Next key thing is ENTREPRENEURSHIP for our people, when we raise entrepreneurs we have raised people with amplified solution to the problems around us. This is the hallmark of present day society globally and we must catch up with the world.

PEACE is priceless in our developmental pursuit, peace and development are flipside of the same coin. It suffice to say, "without peace there can be no development and without development there can be no peace" - Antonio Gutteres.

Nevertheless, DEMOCRACY is a process and not an event. We strongly believe we're in our democratization process, learning the ropes to avoid the pitfalls along the way is part of that process.

At this end, having known there’s no alternative to democracy, we the good people of Nigeria must be willing to save DEMOCRACY which is the lifeblood to Making Nigeria Work.
