The Best Days for a Good Haircut

It sounds like a pretty vain use of astrology, but I have to say I both endorse and regularly advise people on using astrology to elect the best day to get their haircut.

Why? Because it is practical, and it works. It helps evidence astrology to people in a tangible way, and also because, let’s be real, getting a haircut can be a big deal for some people, and it is an event worthy of using astrology to elect the best timing for.

Although beauty is a Venus ruled subject, the planet that I usually consider first when electing the hair appointment is the Moon. This is the planet that rules growth, water, and can be related to the body. When in the lunar cycle you cut your hair affects how fast or slow the hair will grow back. The same basic lunar rules of growth that apply to plants, also apply to hair.

When the Moon is waxing, the two week period from the New Moon to Full Moon, growth is on the upswing, hitting the peak right before the Full Moon. If you want your hair to grow, cut it on a waxing (growing) moon, as close to the Full Moon as possible. Also, choose a day when the moon is in a Water sign for the most growth.

If you want hair growth to be slow, and you want the grooming to last longer, use a waning moon (the two week period after the Full Moon). The dead of the moon or balsamic phase, right before the next New Moon is the slowest growth time. This is a good time to pluck unwanted hairs that you don’t want to grow back, shave, and do things that you don’t want to have to do often (like trim your dog’s hair maybe). This is also the best time to mow the lawn for slow growth (right before the Full Moon being the worst).

Aside from considering the phase (where in the cycle the Moon is, waxing or waning) you can also go another step further and elect a favorable sign for the Moon. Water signs, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are all fertile signs and growth is promoted under them. Earth signs, Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn are also considered good for growth, but I would favor a…
