3Box Community Update #7

Read on the learn more about what happened in the 3Box development community over the last two weeks from Nov. 28 to Dec. 12, 2018.

Features like user profiles, onboarding, distributed storage, encryption, and data sharing make dapps more human and usable. Read more.

3Box has spun out of uPort to become an independent project focused on building a social data network for dapps and users. Read more.

As part of separating from uPort and becoming an independent organization, we moved to a new permanent home on Github!

If you really want to follow along with the action, here’s a 20 minute video from our team’s biweekly demo of this sprint.

We’re making good progress on our network caching service which will further speed improvements from 5 seconds to ~0.25 seconds to getProfile, and we’re adding a GraphQL interface to make querying easier.

We’re putting the finishing touches on adding Twitter and Github account verification flows to the app, and verification methods to the 3Box.js. We should have these released in the next cycle.

We’ll be following up on the Spaces technical specification (mentioned above) with an implementation, some time in the next few cycles.
